We have an appointment with obstetrician today at 4:30 pm. Hopefully, we will get some news from our obstetrician :=)

Yesterday- I stayed in. It helps a lot. My cats appreciate having me around *laughs*. George made a cold bath for my swollen legs. He used products from body and bath works. Boy- was that a nice feeling!

My friend who is also due on August 15. We are apart by 3 days. She would instant message me and say, "baby here yet?" I would say, no not yet. Our boys are so stubborn! They are not ready to leave their mommy's belly :)

I am so anxious. George IV, I can't wait. I have waited for 10 months to meet you. Please come out of my belly as soon as possible! Your mommy can't wait. Your mommy needs you in her arms!!!

Last two days, I have been getting "menstrual cramps". My friends said it is one of pre-labor symptoms. So-let's see what happens later this week. I have another obn appointment this Friday. It is really all about the waiting game. I can make many guesses all long I want to. I learned that I can't predicate when I will have the baby. The pre-labor symptoms can last for weeks. I am 38 weeks now. Who knows- it will last for another two weeks.

My Aunt Sandy and I have been in touch. She is such a great listener. She keeps emailing me to check on me. It is just such a nice feeling knowing that she cares. Thanks Auntie for making my day!!!

Exciting news: I was just offered a full-time position at Harper Community College. My status has changed from part-time to full-time position. I am just so proud of myself.

Wow- I have gotten emails from several friends. I thank you for the support. It means the world to me. Your emails are truly appreciated. It helps me to move forward with my life. I will get back to your emails as soon as I can.

The hours are ticking- I can't take it anymore! I am anxious, I need to know if I will be a mommy in 24 hours :=) If it is confirmed, I will say it is a "yes" on my AIM. That means you know that we are on the way to the hospital to have a baby.

I am NOT going to discuss or acknowledge any of Johnstons' drama. They need to solve their OWN problems before they mend things with us. I have a beautiful life and I am not going to throw it out for them. I already moved on and I have a baby and my family to focus.

Exciting news... My doctor said 50/50 chance that I will be induced next week. Next Tuesday, if my blood pressure isn't excellent, I will go ahead and be induced. We will be sent to the hospital at night time to receive the medications to start the labor. It will take me overnight to be induced. As a first time mother, I will probably have a long labor ahead in front of me. Next day, I will be all ready to give the birth to my precious son. The hardest part is... we have to WAIT to find out if I will be induced. We are already packed for the hopsital. The car seat is already installed. Now, all we can do is to wait :=)

Will I be a mommy in 4 days? Will I be a mommy in 25 days? On Tuesday, I will know the fate :=)

This person emailed my husband and me and wrote, " The man of this home is Mr. Johnston to you...not Ed. Stop bothering us with your nonsense."

My Dad abandoned us. He never once stopped by or asked me about my baby. He lives 5 minutes away. We haven't spoken to him for last 8 months. He never showed up to our baby shower. Then- he found out that I was in the hopsital for high blood pressure. He had guts to show up because he was "worried" about me. WTF! That man needs to have his brain examined ( ha ha). So, my husband called my Dad and said don't do this again. Dad needs to mend things with us before he shows up.

Mom revoked the relationship with us. She said we are dead to her. Just because- we tried to communicate our feelings with her. I realized that she has controlling issues. She disowns me because she can't share me with George. My dad has a serious drinking problem.

We are more than happy to solve problems with Mom. We are more than happy to be a role model for her- to show her that it is okay to respect adults even if her "powers" are challenged. Nope- she is behaving like 2 years old. She doesn't want to do anything with us or meet our son. Fine- we don't want to be a part of that clan anymore.

Sadly- no one is willing to stand up for us. I am thankful that George is only the one who stands up for me and say enough! Michelle doesn't deserve this treatment from her parents, after years of mental abuse and controlling.

Mom and Dad kicked us out 4 days before Christmas and I was 2 months pregnant. We were homeless. Our cats were so afraid. We had to live in a hotel for a month before finding a place to live. It is sure an expensive experience ha ha. Now, we have a beautiful place. I am able to be a wife without being controlled by my mom. It is such a nice feeling. I am free now.

I just feel so sorry for my parents. They can't accept the fact that I am an adult now. They can't control me anymore. They can't respect me as an adult. I just hope the best for them.

Happy 1st Wedding Anniversary

Originally, we were planning to go up to Michigan for a romantic dinner by the lake for our 1st wedding anniversary. Last Thursday, my work threw me a baby shower along with food and goodies. I think- that excitement and goodies increased my blood pressure ( ha ha). I went straightly to obn appt after the baby shower from my work. The nurse wasn't happy with my blood pressure. She asked me to lay down for 10 minutes. My blood pressure went down sightly. My favorite OBN doctor tested my blood pressure again for 3rd time, luckily, it went down to normal. He said he could have sent me to the hopsital. I insisted that it was all from excitement ha ha. He said I must be on the strict diet, NO CARBS and NO SODIUM!! I have to stop working and stay home until the baby borns. I was thinking to myself, how heck can I live without carbs and salt?! How heck can I stay home all of the time!

Amazingly, last 5 days, my ankles and calves shrunk! George does all healthy cooking. He helps me to learn how to eat without carbs and sodium. I am feeling better than ever. I have energy now. I feel so good.

So- that is the reason why we couldnt go to Michigan. I have an OBN appt today in 20 minutes to test my blood pressure and I can't wait to amaze the nurse! I really am so proud of myself for following the strict diet and taking it easy. I sure don't want to go to the hopsital today!

Our 1st wedding anniversary was really romantic and beautiful! I didn't realize that celebrating in the simplest way can be truly amazing! I don't want to say the details :=) It was just about us. The hubby cooked a delicious dinner. We lightened the unity candle from our wedding. The unity candle was on the table outside. We enjoyed the dinner and it was all about us. It brought old memories from college years. We would just focus on eachother. I got few suprises from George. I gave him few suprises. Afterwards, We watched the professional wedding DVD. It was so nice.

George IV, I can't wait to meet you! I need you in my arms now. My dearest hubby, you are my rock. My life is nothing without you. You are the reason I breathe. I love you! I love you!

I had a DELL laptop for my graduation gift. Now it is a 5 years old laptop. It has been having a lot of problems. Indeed, I don't have patience with it anymore after fixing it many times. My husband finally gave in and realized that it is time for us to get a new one :) We got a Toshiba Satellite 15.4" Widescreen Laptop. It is so awesome! I am not used to having a laptop that works! Ha ha. We still want to use the old laptop for George IV. I hope we can bring it back alive hehe.

Internet baby shower

George's mom threw us an internet baby shower last Saturday. About 14 people attended for the internet baby shower in NY. We got few cute things. It was nice. We were so busy on that day. We woke up early and went to the childbirth class. After the class, we had to get ready for the internet baby shower. It was such a nice day for both of us.

George's mom brought a new laptop and webcam so she can see our baby. It really made my day to hear that. She will come out and spend some time with us when the baby is born. George's dad and NH Mom will be coming out for a couple days to help us out. It is really nice to have a family support from George's side.

I am starting to have braxton hicks contractions. I am almost 32 weeks. Yes, I am getting there :) I can't wait. Not that I am looking forward to the labor part but I am looking forward to meeting this precious baby.

Shelby is almost 12 weeks pregnant. One and half week left, she will be in 2nd trimester. WooT! I saw Mike last Friday. He is really excited about being a daddy. He will be such a good daddy.

Happy Father-to-be Day and Happy Father's Day!!!! I surprised George with a cute musical father's day card. He woke up with a smile. We basically spent the morning in the bed watching a funny movie. Nothing gets better than that!

We have another baby shower hosted by my sister in law and my older brother on the 29th. We look forward to the family gathering. Mandy and Cousin Mike better bring Logan :) I can't wait to meet him.

Why do Gas Prices Always End in 9/10 of a Cent?

There is quite a bit of folklore trying to explain this phenomenon. There are stories about retail price wars, penny newspapers, and even gas taxes. Some believe that because some taxes levied on the gas companies are 9/10ths of a percent of their volume of sales, they have passed that on to the consumer by increasing gas prices to 9/10ths of a cent.

In the end, though any or all of these things may have happened, many retail and academic studies have found that when prices end in 9, consumers will spend more money. It's a bit embarrassing to find out that most consumers are far more likely to purchase an item priced at $9.99 than the same item priced at $10.00, and there is little change in sales volume when the price changes from $5.00 to $5.99.

Plus, it makes for great marketing. Ads for the best laptop under $600 (sold for $599.99), or the best car under $10,000 (sold for $9,999), actually do fool consumers into thinking they're spending less money. Especially in these days of high gas prices, you could say that the gas companies are just doing what capitalism demands of them.

George's dad and Diana are flying in this weekend. They already are great grandparents. They want to get us a crib and dresser for our baby. We had to get the baby room ready before the weekend gets here. Oh my! I didn't realize that I had so much junk stored from ol' college years. I threw out 4 trash bags worth of junk. I learned something new about myself. I need to get rid of stuff if I don't use them for more than 6 months. Shame on me :) Now, we have more room. George is happy about that ha ha. We think we want the Simplicity Ellis 4-in-one crib and a Simplicity Ellis dresser. We will go to Babies'r'us with George's Dad and Diana to make an order this Saturday. *Excitedly screaming* We picked the theme for baby room, it will be SAFARI! It is so adorable. Lil George has been kicking lately. Hes getting so strong. Everytime I lay down on my side, he will let me know if he wants me to move! He is like hey mommy, move this way so I can get comfortable. He has a personality already :) Less than a month, I will be done working. It will be so strange not to work full time until 2009. I don't mind- witnessing my baby's first taste of everything is #1. OH MY! I can't wait to shop for flowers! I am a summer girl even though- admittedly, I probably won't be comfortable being in 3 rd trimester during the summer. I can't wait to get flowers for our home and the patio. I LOVE FLOWERS! I don't care how much it costs, it is worth every penny :)

Shelby told me that the t-shirts are ready! I can't wait to see the shirt! Shelby- I am so proud of you. We raised MORE than 5,000 dollars for our team. Oh, Shelby gets all credit for that :)It is such a good feeling to see everyone chipping in to support MS. I ordered the cute croc shoes designed for MS. Maternity leave

My boss and I talked about the maternity leave. It was a difficult decision for us. First of all- our primary concern was about whether if we could find a qualify teacher who has MS and can sign? Can we find this sub on time?

We agreed that I will come back after 6 weeks. I will work 5 hours a week. I will just show up on Monday and Wednesday from 10 AM to 12:25 PM. I will leave immediately after the class. We will hire a tutor for me. I hope to find a tutor before the school year ends. By the 2nd semester, my responsibilities (tutoring, attending meetings, working with English department administrators) will be gradually added.

I feel appreciated by the fact that my team needs me very much. I am also blessed that my boss is willing to work things out with me. My son comes first and my boss supports that. Thanks to Aunt Shelby and Uncle Mike, they will be babysitting our son :) They are so thrilled about this. I feel good knowing that our baby will be in their hands, not with a stranger.

GENDER of our baby

IT IS A BOY!!!

I cried when I saw my son on ultrasound. He is growing so fast! He is doing really well. He was sucking his thumb while he was going through series of testing. He passed all of his tests. He is healthy. He is 13 oz right now. Everything has been recorded on DVD. I will try and show the DVD on the blog before the weekend ends.
It was so funny- when we were ready to find out the gender of our son, we learned that his legs were crossed. Hes like mommy and daddy- I am too comfortable to move right now. The tech had to move my belly and Daddy had to talk to his son. Finally, our son was convinced to move his legs. Oh yeah- it was obvious! Hes a BOY!

As right now, my son is moving in my belly. George the 4th, I can't wait to meet you. I love you to death even I haven't met you. I can't wait to have you in my arms by August 12th.

Marlee Matlin to continue a proud dance tradition: Trustee Marlee Matlin will appear on "Dancing with the Stars" starting March 17.

Dance has been a key form of self-expression for artists in the deaf community for decades, but many hearing people are still not aware of it. That will soon change when Oscar-winning actress and Gallaudet trustee Marlee Matlin appears on the next season of the popular ABC television network show “Dancing with the Stars,” which premieres March 17.

“The general population is beginning to understand that it is a misconception that rhythm is contained in the ear drum and beginning to know that rhythm can be seen and felt as well as heard,” said Dr. Diane Hottendorf, professor of dance and director of the Gallaudet Dance Company along with assistant director Sue Gill-Doleac. Gallaudet dancers have been thrilling audiences around the world since the company was founded in 1955.

MSSD dance students have also proved their mettle for many years. Last month, the school held its 26th annual dance concert, this year entitled “Take it to the Street.” The show included a variety of urban dance styles as well as traditional forms from around the world.

The Gallaudet Dance Company’s upcoming concert, “Imagine Peace,” will show the group’s versatility with a mix of modern and jazz dance, tap, and hip hop, including pieces infused with ASL.

The dance company’s rehearsals emphasize the rhythm of the steps and the music. Dance instructors count visually to establish the basic beat, facilitating the development of inner rhythm and timing for each dance. When teaching a new dance step, the instructor often gives a sign count for each step, similar to giving a verbal count with hearing dancers. Occasionally, rehearsals include the use of a drum in order to clarify the dance’s counts. These techniques and the teamwork of the dancers inevitably come together to stunning effect. Glowing reviews follow each dance production and performances by the Gallaudet Dance Company on the road. Matlin’s performance, Hottendorf and Gill-Doleac feel, could prove similarly impressive.

“We are so pleased that Marlee Matlin is on ‘Dancing with the Stars,’” Gill-Doleac said. “She will help show that rhythm is rhythm, however you perceive it.” She and Hottendorf feel that Matlin (who is in rehearsal for the show now), has a good chance in the competition. But just being able to compete and show what dedication can do is enough. “It doesn't matter if the dancer is deaf or hearing--what is needed is hard work!” said Hottendorf.

Anyone who thought the local rivalry between Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks was a friendly one has not seen the latest salvo in their coffee smackdown.

When Starbucks shuts down all of its nearly 7,100 national stores this evening for employee retraining (some of the contracted Starbucks are on a different training schedule), Dunkin Donuts will hand out free small hot lattes in all of its 450 Chicagoland stores.

The offer will be good from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. today. I haven't tried the Dunkin' latte but I do know that gourmet coffee often tastes better when its free. Remind me not to get into a cat fight with either of these chains. They're brutal. But at least their skirmishing is bringing benefits to coffeelovers.

Starbucks is closing its company-owned stores across the country for several hours today so it can bring its employees back up to speed on creating a perfect shot and steaming milk and pulling it all together for a great drink. The barista re-education is a "renewed focus on espresso standards," say Starbucks honchos.

*Groans* My OB/Gyn appointment today was canceled today due to a nasty snow storm. I was DYING to see the baby's heartbeat. I waited 6 weeks to see the baby's heartbeat. Now we have to wait few days more *sobs*.

Besides that *sob story*, I already decided the name for girl!!! My hubby and I will announce the name after we find out the gender or after the birth. My hubby already told people about the name for boy. I guess he is more excited than me :) :)

We're moving to Schaumburg this Saturday! I will take pictures of our new home :) I can FINALLY put up the beautiful framed wedding picture on the wall! I can't hardly wait to get the room ready for the baby. We will mail you the postcard with our new home address.

Our friend is turning 30 this Friday. We can't stay there long. We have to get up at 5 am to get the moving truck. Waking up this early is WORTH IT! I can't wait to decorate our new home. For those who already have a home, I am sure you understand how excited we are because you guys went through the same ;) Whoo! Life is good :)

Cousin's Mike for SuperBowl

Shelby, Mike, George & I went to Cousin Mike's for Superbowl. Wow, there was A LOT of food and I was in heaven :) I ate so much on that night ( haha). Thank you SO much for the hospitality. Aunt Sandy came along. It was so great to see everyone. Cousin Mike's wife, Mandy is also pregnant. She is 6 months. They are having a boy. She showed me ultrasound pictures. I am just so excited for her.

Two hours before the game finishes, the snow was snowing like raining. No big deal- the snow on the road won't stop us. YIKES- Shelby got called in to her work. Her hospital needed her and we were an hour away. George was a trooper, he drove fast yet very careful. She got to her work on time. We were relieved that she made it.

Our dream townhouse

Oh my god! We saw this beautiful townhouse in the family orientated area today. George and I immediately fell in love with this townhouse. I am telling you this... when we once sign the paper and this gorgeous townhouse becomes OURS.. I will CRY CRY with excitement.

The words are certainly spreading in this country...

I received an unexpected message from an old friend from the college in New York. She lives in NYC right now. She found out about my pregnancy. The words sure travel SO fast! She left the message on my AIM this morning, congratulating me about my pregnancy. That was so generous of her.

My parents are definitely looking forward to becoming a grandparent. It is such a blessing to see that.

George, he is such a cutie! He always talks to my tummy before he goes to work in the morning. Before he goes to bed, he says good night to our baby. He has been such a supportive husband. He always makes sure that I am well taken care of. Right now, I am truly tired. It is hard for me to do the daily tasks, even at work. He does extra responsibilities to ensure that I get a lot of rest. Isnt he a sweetie!

So far, I don't have any morning sickness. Thanks to my mom! We have good genetics. My mom never had any of morning sickness.

Some people asked me about how did I find out about my pregnancy. It is a funny story! Some people think it is a MAUI baby (LOL). I can't confirm on that one *winks*. Anyways, my husband said, "honey... I ve known you for 7 years.. I think you are pregnant. Your PMS never lasts more than one day. I react to things differently for a couple of weeks." I laughed at him and said he is silly!

*GASPS*... YES! He was totally right. He knows me SO well. The magical sticks confirmed that. When we found out, we told our families RIGHT AWAY!!!!!!!!

We already decided a name for boy and girl. I want to keep it as a surprise. I am debating whether if I want to know the gender before the birth. It is a hard decision. Yet, I am blessed to be pregnant and I am enjoying this moment right now.

Aunt Shelby and Uncle Mike brought us two pregnancy books : "What To Expect When You're Expecting" and "What To Expect: Pregnancy Journal and Organizer:. Thank you Aunt Shelby and Uncle Mike! We have a big surprise for them. We won't announce this news until the baby is born.

We are in the process of purchasing a townhouse. I am so excited! We have to decide the theme for my baby's room. Will keep you posted about this.

This is the proof! We survived on the road to Hana (East of Maui). We rode the Road King Harley. It was the most beautiful ride in this world. Shelby and Mike was driving a jeep without it's top. Pat and his girlfriend came with us. I can't describe how beautiful this place is.

We (all) have butterflies in our stomach about Shelby and Mike's beautiful wedding in Maui, Hawaii. What is even better, the family will be together.

My older brother is getting married.. I am just so so happy for him. We love Shelby to death. Mike deserves a wonderful wife like Shelby.

Shelby's Mom departed to Maui today... Have a safe flight! See you so soon!!

We are starting to pack for this amazing and unforgettable trip. WHOO HOO! We can't believe that it is really happening! We (certainly!) will share our adventure with you when we return from this trip.

We will be staying in Maui from October 17th to 25th. Shelby and Mike's wedding is on October 20. We can't be depressed past their wedding day, we look forward to celebrating at Shelby and Mike's formal reception coming up in November.

28 more days until Shelby & Mike's wedding in Maui!!!! Wow, did you see Shelby's wedding invitation and the Hawaii package? The invitation card was so beautiful and dynamic. The Hawaii package had flowers inside the package. The package enclosed with travel information and the wedding schedule.

We are throwing Shelby a bachelorette party. It will be held on October 6. Whoo hoo! I can't go into details because I know Shelby reads my blog hahaha.

George's birthday is on the 12th. He is going to be an old man like me :) He is turning 27 this year. He has been so good to me. Our married life rocks! He rocks! He rocks my world!

Yes, I have cut my hair :) I donated my hair to the kids who have cancer. I am so proud to have Shelby as my sister in law. She has worked so hard to acquiring my language in order to communicate with me and my young brother. I don't know what I did to deserve her. I am thankful that I am able to communicate with her and her sweet sister (Allison). One more month until my brother gets married. I am truly happy for Mike and Shelby. I love them to death. They are very important to me. You guys rock...

What a summer!

I got my dream job! I am an instructional specialist at Harper Community College. I teach English classes. My team has been awesome to me. They immediately welcome me in this program. I feel very lucky to find a job that I truly enjoy. It has been fun decorating my office. It is so awesome that Bob Paul (a respective member in the deaf community) works next to my building. It is nice to be around people who appreciate my language.

It is strange not seeing our cat, Mookie around in the house. Everytime, one of us goes in the kitchen, she would run for fresh milk or meat. The reality is starting to sink in, she is really gone. We can move on knowing that she had a great life. On the positive side, our cats ( four cats) really KNOW how to open the door! They continue to amaze me. They would open the door to go outside anytime they want to. Now, we have to teach them how to close the door! It is crazy how people really think cats have no personality, they really do!

A loved one in our family has been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I respectfully ask you to donate $ ( a dollar is even appreciated) to http://www.nationalmssociety.org/. We (as a family) ordered yellow bands to support this loved one. Our yellow bands said, " Johnston Strong". It has brought our family closer and stronger.

I have an exciting news to share: George and I just brought the tickets to Hawaii!! We will be staying in Maui for a week in October. Brian and Lauren just brought their tickets to Hawaii right after us! Alethea and Steve brought their tickets to Maui too!! Everyone will be together again in Maui!!! Shelby and Mike have been busy preparing for their beautiful wedding in Maui. Their wedding website can be found on the upper right. We all are very excited! YUP, we love to travel ;)
